These guidelines ensure that Africa Sojourners of Hope (ASOH) maintains a safe, respectful, and effective environment for our beneficiaries, volunteers, donors, and staff. All participants in ASOH programs and activities are expected to adhere to these rules.

Safeguarding Policy

Zero tolerance for abuse or exploitation

Mandatory background checks for all volunteers

Clear reporting mechanisms for concerns

Child protection training for all staff

Volunteer Conduct

Attend all scheduled training and orientations

Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information

Report concerns or incidents immediately

Dress appropriately and professionally

Program Participation

Active engagement in program activities

Punctuality and regular attendance

Cooperation with staff and fellow participants

Respect for program materials and facilities

Prohibited Conduct

Any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying

Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse

Substance abuse during program activities

Theft or misuse of organizational resources

Unauthorized sharing of beneficiary information or images

Engaging in political or religious proselytizing

Accepting personal gifts or favors from beneficiaries

Photography and Social Media

When sharing content featuring ASOH activities, beneficiaries, or programs:

  • Always obtain written consent before photographing or filming beneficiaries
  • Protect the dignity and privacy of individuals in all images
  • Avoid images that could stigmatize or harm beneficiaries
  • Use first names only or pseudonyms when sharing stories
  • Tag ASOH in social media posts to help us amplify our message

Conflict Resolution

If conflicts arise, we encourage open communication and respectful dialogue. Our conflict resolution process includes:

  1. Direct communication between parties involved
  2. Mediation by program coordinators if needed
  3. Formal grievance procedures for serious concerns
  4. Confidential reporting mechanisms

Consequences of Violations

Violations of these rules may result in:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Temporary suspension from programs
  • Permanent removal from ASOH activities
  • Legal action in cases of serious misconduct
